Pres aide sees idea to turn Crimea in digital offshore as faux pas
SIMFEROPOL, Jan 18 (PRIME) -- Creation of a so-called digital offshore in Crimea, which will ignore author rights and patents of U.S. and European companies, as a counter-sanction will be a wrong step, German Klimenko, presidential advisor on the Internet, said on Thursday.
“The theory of ‘a digital offshore’ is nice and sounds good. I have colleagues who welcome it, but in practice, I think we should develop normally and respect the labor of authors,” Klimenko said.
Experts are discussing the idea of turning Crimea, which is under Western sanctions, into a digital offshore, he said.
